After a year of blood, sweat, and tears, the League of Legends World Championship, aka LoL Worlds, is back, bringing the year to a close. This time, the action is headed to Europe, starting with the Play-In Stage in Berlin on September 25, 2024.
Twenty of the world's most elite League of Legends teams from every corner of the international pro scene will clash, each vying for the glory of being crowned the World Champions and a share of the $2.25 million prize pool. Will T1 lift the Summoner's Cup once again, or will another team rise like a phoenix from the ashes? Only time will tell.

LoL Worlds 2024: Format
The League of Legends World Championship has an elaborate format, which has been streamlined even further for 2024. Twenty teams qualify through the professional regional leagues organized by Riot Games throughout the year, and the entire tournament will be played on LoL patch 14.18.
Play-In Stage (September 25 - 29)
- Eight teams play in a double-elimination brackets, played as best-of-three matches.
- No teams from the same region could be placed in the same bracket.
- The top four teams advance to the Swiss Stage.
- The remaining teams are eliminated.
Swiss Stage (October 3 - 7 and October 10 - 13)
- The four Play-Ins Stage teams join the twelve teams with direct entry, resulting in a sixteen-team Swiss Stage format.
- In Round 1, teams are paired against teams from a different region.
- Rounds 2 to 5 are based on each team's win/loss record.
- Each team can only face an opponent once during the Swiss Stage.
- Advancement and Elimination matches are Bo3. All other matches are Bo1.
- Teams that reach three wins advance to the Knockout Stage.
- Teams that reach 3 losses are eliminated.
Knockout Stage (October 17 - 20 and October 26 - 27 and November 2)
- Eight teams play in a single-elimination bracket with no second chances.
- All matches are Bo5.
- The winning team is crowned the 2024 World Champions.
LoL Worlds 2024: Teams
As mentioned, 20 teams from the major League of Legends pro leagues will compete in this upcoming tournament. The LPL and LCK have four teams, while LEC and LCS have three slots each. PCS and VCS have two slots, with the remaining slots leading to one each for CBLOL and LLA.
